4,5,6 “Da la talla” there is a trick here with this sentence, under normal conditions, the translation for “Da la talla” or “Dar la talla” will be “To give, giving your size, your measurements” however that is not what it means here. In the Spanish language, sometimes, “Dar la talla” will represent being up to a challenge, to a situation or circumstance. To be prepared enough to face a challenge or an activity. Let’s see an example to illustrate better the idea.
“No creo dar la talla en el examen” – “I don't think I'll make the cut on the exam” the student didn’t study enough to pass the exam, for that reason he will not “dara la talla” he will not be up to the challenge.
Now, analyzing the song lyrics, the sentences refer that the girl’s boyfriend “No da la talla” meaning that the boyfriend is not good enough to her, she is too much of a woman for him.

Review
“Obsesión ” is a song by the musical bachata band Aventura , and it is a classical song in Latin America even after so many years since the song was released in 2002. When the song came out there was no place where the song was being played all day, it was a hit on the radio as well. Incredible as a curious fact, the song was the number one hit in Italy for 16 weeks in a row, even though the language breach.
“Obsesión ” is a song that launched Aventura fame to the sky, after that they became very popular and make people like the bachata genre which wasn’t very popular back then.
the video clip and the lyrics tell us the story of Romeo Santos , the singer from the band, who is sitting around a TV with his friends watching a show, his friends are looking at the TV and talking while he's looking at his phone screen, maybe seeing some messages from the girl he likes. At that moment he starts to sing, saying that is five o’clock in the morning and he hasn’t slept anything at all because he’s thinking about the girl, then we saw her in bed speaking to him on a phone call.
Later the scenario changes and we see Romeo who met the girl's boyfriend, he says the guy is ugly and small, he knows that her boyfriend doesn’t love her and she doesn’t love him too, however they are together. After that, Rome starts to get a little obsessed with her, he goes to her school looking for her and seduces her friend just to get the girl’s number.
As the song progresses Romeo’s condition worsens as he gets more and more obsessed with her, what was a beautiful love is now an obsession, calling the girl all the time, and she rejects him saying she has a boyfriend. At some point, Romeo says that he made an appointment with a psychiatrist as his friends abandoned him because all he does is speak about her.
At the end of the song, we see that all the events in the clip were on his mind, he is still sitting with his friends watching TV.
Please note that this song has many lyrics, but they aren’t difficult to translate or understand, it is an excellent song to practice your Spanish level even if you aren’t an expert. Also remember that practicing your spoken abilities will improve a lot your Spanish level and is one of the most important aspects when you are learning a language, so enjoy singing this song over and over as we do.
