Review
Café Tacvba La Ingrata meaning and English lyrics translated
Café Tacvba is an alternative Mexican rock band founded in 1989 . They are still present but right now they’re not making any new music or songs. Café Tacvba is an irreverent band with polemic lyrics, the one I translated today is one of the most polemic and during an interview, they revealed they will not sing that song anymore because of the ending lyrics.
La Ingrata – “The ungrateful woman” is a song about being angry with your ex. The lyrics tell us the story of a man who is suffering from finishing his relationship with his ex but now that is making up his mind and recovering, she appears again to try to convince him to be together once more. He doesn’t believe her lies, he doesn’t want her to tell him she misses him or that she adores him because her tears are fake. He calls her “Ingrata” – “Ungrateful” because she always despises his words and kisses.
Now, the song turns a little polemic since in the lyrics the boy says that if he wants, he can humiliate her and make her suffer as an act of revenge for everything she did to him. And the lyrics turn out to be crazier when at the end of the song the boy says that in revenge, he will give two gunshots to the girl and be with her at her funeral.
Café Tacvba revealed that the meaning of the song wasn’t to incite people to hurt their exes, but just to sing that frustration out that many people have when finishing a toxic relationship. Still, they decided to not sing La Ingrata anymore out of fear of people imitating the lyrics of the song.
