Hombres G Marta tiene un marcapasos meaning and lyrics explained
Marta tiene un marcapasos – “Marta has a pacemaker” is a song by the Spanish band Hombres G, the song was released in 1986 but is still one of the most popular Spanish songs nowadays, it is considered a cult song.
Hombres G is a band that is often recognized for their strange lyrics, Marta tiene un marcapasos isn’t the exception. The lyrics can be interpreted in many ways since it refers to what it looks like to be a teenage pregnancy and also a direct reference to the movie Alien the 8th passenger.
If we analyze Marta tiene un marcapasos’s lyrics we would comprehend a little the context. The song tells us that Marta has a pacemaker that cheers up her heart, you don’t have to wind it up because it’s automatic, if you get close enough you will hear its little kicks inside; the singer thinks that the pacemaker is alive.
The singer wants to date Marta and when he was about to kiss her, he felt a thump in his chest, and the pacemaker came out of Marta. After that, the lyrics turn into a weird and macabre tale.
The singer says that the pacemaker is similar to its father, it is a beautiful creature who plays with all the children and then rips their hearts out and eats them with tomatoes. In these last few sentences, we can know the reference that maybe Marta was a teenager who was pregnant without knowing it, Marta thought that the kicking inside of her was the pacemaker until she finally gives birth.
Then Hombres G gave a new direction to the song, when Marta gives birth to the child it is expressed that it comes out from her chest, between viscera and blood like the creatures from the movie Alien, the creature feeds of hearts and there isn’t a more beautiful creature than it. In the end, Marta is completely overwhelmed by the creature and she now looks like a crazy person. The singer says that he only wanted a kiss from Marta.
Overall, Marta tiene un marcapasos is a great song, it is very short and the lyrics are easy to understand although it has a lot of meaning and interpretations. The singing is a little fast but the voice is clear and comprehensible, Hombres G never disappoint with their music. Excellent song for those who want to learn Spanish.
