2 “Fui” there is an important note to do here. Usually “Fui” normally will represent the past of the verb “soy” – “I am” however there are cases in which “fui” will represent the past of the word verb “Ir” – “To go” lets see an example of both cases.
“Fui un tonto creyendo en sus mentiras” – “I was a fool believing her lies”
“Fui al médico el otro día por un dolor de cabeza” – “I went the other day to the doctor for a headache”
See how in both cases the same word is used but the meaning in the sentences change, this is important to know because it will save you trouble trying to understand sentences and little by little comprehend the Spanish language. Identifying what “Fui” means in every conversation is not difficult, you just have to analyze the context of the conversation.

5 “Trastearon” from the verb “Trastear” usually will mean the action of oppressing or touching with the fingers against an instrument with metal strips, however in Spanish and in Latin America and Spain, the word “Trastear” will mean something like “Touching, messing around with something, trying to fix something, or working on something. For example:
“Los mecánicos trastearon con mi carro” – “The mechanics worked on my car” the intention of the sentence is to express that the person whose car was being fixed didn’t know exactly what the car had, but when he says “Trastearon” he’s saying that the mechanics did all they could to get the car fixed. It may sound a little complex to understand but it isn’t. Another example can be when your TV isn’t working and you do a lot of things just to get it working again, you “trasteas” with your TV.
Now the song lyrics say: “y me trastearon hasta el alma” saying that the doctors did everything in their hand to discover what the person had, when he says “Trastearon” mean they did many tests or exams on him.

Review
This time we are going to review another classic Spanish song, one of those that no matter how many years pass is still listened to by everyone. A song that mixes scientific words with emotions, an excellent song for those Spanish learners who want to practice with a catchy rhythm and lyrics.
“La Bilirrubina ” – “The bilirubin” is a song by the Dominican and Christian singer Juan Luis Guerra , the song is one of his hits alongside “Las Avispas”. The song tells us the story of a man who one day woke up with a fever. He said the fever is because of his love for a Christian girl. The fever was so high that he ended up in the infirmary to be treated but that wasn’t enough, so he went to the hospital. There, the doctors injected him with colored serums and even took an X-ray from him to check what was wrong. They did everything they could to comprehend what was happening to him but with no results, the man, however, knew what was his problem, science and medicine will never heal him as the only thing he needed were the kisses from that girl he was in love with. After realizing it, he starts to mix medicines with love, asking the girl to give him vitamins of affection and injections of love.
The final of the song repeats the lyrics over and over but since the rhythm, the music, and composition are so nice to hear that there is no problem hearing it multiple times. This song is great for practicing your spoken Spanish level as you will need to give a good try to keep the timing with Juan Luis Guerra when singing. Without realizing it you will end up singing “La Bilirrubina” until you are exhausted, and be sure that you will improve your Spanish level by having fun.
