Review
Song summary:
Despite what it may seem, the central theme of the song is not a young summer love but a dialogue between the author and a beach with personified features where memories accumulate.
Where:
This great song, by the band La Oreja de Van Gogh, is dedicated to the famous Playa de La Concha in San Sebastián, Spain, where the band spent their childhood and shared many memories in 1996 also there they used to spend many summers in their youth.
When:
La playa is the third song from the album "El viaje de Copperpo", the second album by La Oreja de Van Gogh, and was written 4 years before its release on the album in 2000 also, the video was also released a long time later.
Song emotion:
Better known as "The most beautiful song in the world", for being the phrase with which the chorus begins. It is considered, among others, as one of the group's most memorable and remembered songs for the melancholy and the beauty of this emotional piece of music.
About the video:
In the video, the band is sitting on an armchair while computerized fish surround them and dive among them. At the same time, events take place in a fish tank, where a boy is seen playing with a girl and giving her first kiss. Then it suddenly passes 50 years and we can see that boy, already very old, throwing stones into the sea and waiting for the return of his first love.
The facts are interspersed between the fish tank and the room, although in the end, it seems to be discovered that everything we have been seeing has actually happened only inside the fish tank, which serves as a trunk of memories for the old man, where his story of love is kept.
