Review
It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a Spanish speaker or if you live in a Hispanic country, you surely heard at least one in your life of Luis Miguel, a Puerto Rican/Mexican singer that is close to celebrating his 40 years of music anniversary. Luis Miguel is doing music since he was 11 years old. He can be compared to other great Latin-American artists like Shakira, Daddy Yankee, or Bad Bunny. Luis Miguel was in his time the most desirable singer to women in the American continent.
Now, the song we are reviewing today is called “Ahora te puedes marchar” – “Now you can leave” or “You can leave now”. The song was released in 1987 when Luis Miguel was 17 years old. “Ahora te puedes marchar” is a Spanish version of the song “I Only want to be with you” by Dusty Springfield.
“Ahora te puedes marchar” video clip reminds us of old movies like Vaselina, with a group of friends headed by a young Luis Miguel singing all over the place. The video clips start with Luis Miguel accompanied by friends reaching out to what seems to be his girlfriend eating with another man, the song starts and the lyrics combined perfectly with what we see in the clip.
The lyrics show us Luis Miguel telling the girl he found eating with another man several things about love, about she didn’t know how to love and now he doesn’t need her anymore and she can leave his side. The clips end with Luis Miguel wishing luck to the guy who is the new boyfriend of the girl while he laughs knowing what that guy is going to live with her.
“Ahora te puedes marchar” is an easy song to practice with, no complex sentences or hard words, just a chilling song with a nice rhythm to dance and sing while you get better at your Spanish level. Remember that singing a song will help you to improve your spoken level in Spanish and writing over and over the same lyrics will help you to remind words without having to look all the time for a dictionary. Repeating and practicing all the time is the key to learning a new language.
