Review
Maná Eres mi religión meaning and English lyrics explained
Eres mi religion – “You are my religion” is a song by the Mexican Rock and pop band Maná , the song was released in October 2002. “Eres mi religion” by Maná is one of the most famous and memorable songs by the band. Eres mi religion” has two different versions, one in Italian and another one in Portuguese called “Você É Minha Religião”.
The lyrics were written by Fher Olvera the main vocalist of the band who was also the producer for the song. “Eres mi religion” lyrics are about a desperate man who lived empty and without meaning in his life, walking through the streets and parks like a ghost, flying over the sea as a bird with his wings broken. Suddenly, someone showed up in his life, giving him a new purpose and direction to his life.
The song is called “Eres mi religion” probably because in the lyrics the man compares that wonderful person who gives meaning to his life to an angel, the sun, and the light. He considers that person his religion because now he has something to dedicate his life to.
“Eres mi religion” by Maná is a must to hear , especially if you like old rock songs combined with a little pop and deep singing. Now, in terms of learning, this song may look a little challenging to understand at first as the lyrics are long and many sentences are repeated but in different ways or changing just a word, however, if you have a mid-knowledge of basic Spanish words you would be able to translate the song without too much effort as you can find easy words like “Luz” – “Light”, “Amor” – “Love”, “Sol” – “Sun” and the word “Religión” which is written just the same in English.
I love this song, it is one of my favorites, is a song you can’t miss if you want to learn Spanish and know a little better about its culture and legendary music.
