Review
“Labios compartidos ” or “Shared lips” is a song by the popular Mexican band Maná . The band was formed in 1986 in Guadalajara and has sold more than 40 million discs around the world. Their music style is a fusion of progressive rock, Latin pop, Ska, Reggae, and ballads, they have a very big international exposition being famous even in the USA.
“Labios compartidos ” is the first single from their seven-album studio. The song was well received in many countries, it reached first place for the Hot Latin Songs in the specialized magazine Billboard and stood there for at least eight weeks consecutive. Labios compartidos is one of the famous songs from Maná.
The video clip shows us a threesome formed by two men and a woman, one of them suffers from having to share the girl with the other man. The music and the video were inspired by infidelity that the vocalist of the band had one with a girl. He had to break up with an 8 months relationship because he discovered the girl was cheating on him.
The lyrics tell us just that, a man that suffers because he can’t share his girlfriend's lips anymore, but he loves her, and every time she comes back to him, he falls into her arms just by later feel regret of being with her. It is a complex relationship where she has total control over him.
This song isn’t particularly hard to learn or to practice, some few sentences can confuse a Spanish learner but overall, the lyrics are easy to understand and the pace of the singing isn’t that fast, so is a perfect song to try to learn Spanish where you can find several poetic sentences that will require a little effort to fully understand.
If you want to know more about Maná or their music we suggest you check their social media , they are a great band and they are still active nowadays.
