Maná Mariposa traicionera meaning and English lyrics explained

Mariposa traicionera – “Treacherous butterfly” is a song by the famous Mexican band Maná. The song was published in March 2003 and it’s among the most popular songs by Maná.

Mariposa traicionera is a song about cheating and infidelity viewed from the point of view of a man, the video clip for the song shows us a man with a girl in a bar, and every time the man gets distracted the girl goes and flirts and even had sex with another man in the bathroom while her partner is waiting for her, the girl is bisexual as we can even see her flirting with another girl. At the end of the clip after her partner fights with another man, the girl is left alone under the rain to think about her actions.

The Lyrics for Mariposa traicionera are no different from the clip. Using the word “mariposa” – “Butterfly” refers to a girl who is cheating and goes from flower to flower seducing all men in sight. The lyrics tell us how painful is to be with a woman who cheats because it is difficult somehow to leave her and finally be happy because they tend to be treacherous and manipulating.
