Review
Selena El Chico del Apartamento 512 meaning and English lyrics translated
The American singer Selena Quintallina , also known as Selena was one of the greatest Mexican descent artists ever known , she was extremely famous in Mexico and all over Latin America. Her career was projected to be as big as other great artists like Luis Miguel, sadly, her short career ended when she was attacked by her Fan club president Yolanda Saldivar, Selena was taken to the hospital but sadly she couldn’t make it, leaving her fans heartbroken and a big career that we will never see to bloom.
El Chico del Apartamento 512 – “The boy from apartment 512” was one of the last songs she sang and the lyrics tell us the story of a girl living in an apartment complex, every day many men try to flirt with her but she only has eyes for the boy from the 512. She encounters him almost every day and he greets her with a smile, time passes and she decides to tell him what she feels. The girl knocks on his door and she is surprised when on the other side of the door appears a beautiful blonde girl. The girl is heartbroken and almost on the verge of crying when the blonde girl asks her if she is looking for her brother. The song ends there, but we can imagine the relief of the girl knowing that the blonde girl is the boy’s sister and not his girlfriend.
Overall, El chico del apartamento 512 is a funny song with catchy lyrics , a great song to remember Selena and at the same time to learn some Spanish with one of the most popular Spanish songs of all time. translating the song wasn’t difficult, so I don’t consider it too big of a challenge, the only to explain is the expression “Viejo verde” or “Viejo rabo verde” which is an expression that can be translated as “Dirty old man”.
