Review
Silvio Rodriguez Quién Fuera meaning and English lyrics explained
Quién fuera – “Who could be” is a song by the Cuban singer and composer Silvio Rodriguez. The song was published in 1992 and recorded in the Habana in Jun 1989. The song is slow and poetic, the meaning of the song is to express the desire of finding a woman and compares it with the feeling of searching for something in the vast sea.
Quién fuera makes mention of different famous artists and historical characters like the sea activist Jackes Cousteau, and the famous members of The Beatles Lenon and McCartney.
Silvio Rodriguez starts the lyrics by saying that he’s looking for a word that can decipher a woman’s mystery. He wishes he could be one of the many heroes he mentions in the lyrics to find a way to call the girl and enter the walls that protect the girl’s heart.
Quién fuera by Silvio Rodriguez is a song to learn about Cuban music and Hispanic heritage. Quién fuera isn’t a song to dance to or to listen in a party, it’s a song to hear when you are meditating or to listen to when studying thanks to its calm and relaxing lyrics, giving you the feeling of listening to some poetry.
In terms of learning, the only difficult thing about the song is the name of the same. “Quién fuera” can be a difficult expression to understand but after you know its meaning you can understand completely the song without trouble. What “Quién fuera” means and the translation it is explained above in the lyrics translated. A beautiful song that I recommend only for those who are willing to listen to a new kind of music with a deep historical meaning.
