Review
Spanish ballads are often characterized by their sad and romantic lyrics, one of the biggest exponents of Spanish ballads is “Suelta mi mano ” a song by Sin Bandera , the Mexican-Argentine singer duo who is best known for their sad-romantics songs and lyrics. “Suelta mi mano” is a theme that can make you cry if you are a sensible person. “Suelta mi mano” will remind you of that love you had that finished because the other person didn’t feel love for you anymore.
The video clip for “Suelta mi mano ” is very good for learners since you can understand what is happening in the clip without having to listen to a word, however, if you follow the lyrics you will get to know the deepness of the video. The video is simple, a traditional Japanese couple lives alone in the woods, their life seems to be a little monotone, the husband goes to look for food while the wife stays at home doing the labors. The clips go forward you realize that the wife is sick and besides that, she doesn’t feel love for her husband anymore, their nights are cold and he knows she is distant and something wrong is happening. He tries to comfort her and she rejects him, he then realizes that everything is over and without saying anything, he grabs his swords and leaves the house. After he leaves the wife starts to cough in sickness and the man feels it and returns to the house to help her, showing us how big and painful love is.
The lyrics for the song tell us the same, a relationship that ended, the other person doesn’t feel the same for you, love is over, but that person wants to have contact with you, although there is no love, the other person wants you to be a close friend, someone special in his/her life, but being a friend to someone you love is the most painful thing a person can experience. That’s why the song is named “Suelta mi mano” – “Let go of my hand”.
