Review

Song summary:

"When the shaking is past" is a song by Soda stereo included in the album “Nada Personal”, which came out on November 21, 1985. The album also has songs like “Juego de seduccion” or “Danza Rota”.

How:

Written by the leader of the band, Gustavo Cerati, recorded in 1985, it has been considered one of the most important songs of the Argentine band because, in each country where it has been performed, it has been assigned a different emotional charge.

Where:

Many people associate this song with the earthquake that occurred in Mexico City in 1985; in Chile, where it was related to the fall of the Augusto Pinochet regime, and Cerati's legendary cry "Strength, Peru!", dedicated at the concert they gave on December 8, 2007, the year in which the country had been hit by an earthquake.

Song emotion:

Although Gustavo wrote about an emotional tremor and the security you feel when such a catharsis finally passes; it is interesting to acknowledge the fact that each mind shaped its own tremor and decided to love the song and cling to it with all its soul. 'When the tremor passes' is a song that speaks to the depths of being.

That is why, beyond the telluric allusions and the specific Mexican case, the song has more to do with and refers to the emotional tremor, fears, inconsistencies, and insecurities that usually surround a person who is going through a complex situation. . However, the lyrics hint at a hopeful and positive message, open to the possibility of change and of getting out of the problem that causes anguish in the protagonist of the story.

About the video:

It was filmed in Tilcara, Jujuy, precisely in the Pucará de Tilcara archaeological site, where the remains of a pre-Columbian Omaguaca fort from the Andean region of northwestern Argentina are found. It begins with a few brief scenes of eleven seconds, in which a succession of drawings made in the style of the pre-Columbian Andean cultures of northwestern is shown. We can see the singer moving between narrow stone corridors and the musical closing, the video uses the images of the band performing the song and the public jumping, to round off the message of contrasts that extends throughout the video.
