Review
“No Me Doy por Vencido ” is a wonderful song by the Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi . It was released on 5 June 2008 and is one of his biggest hits alongside “Despacito”. The song isn’t really complicated and it doesn’t have too many lyrics but the song has a powerful message about not giving up and never surrendering fighting for your dreams or what you want to accomplish.
The song and the video clip tell us three different stories, one about a boy in love with a neighborhood girl. The second story is about a man who has his wife in the hospital, and the third one is about a little boy whose dream is to finally play football whit his team since he is always sitting on the bench.
As the song progresses and lyrics encourage us to not surrender and never get tired of what we are doing, the clip shows us how the boy in love with the girl takes the courage to finally tell her what he feels. The man waiting for his wife in the hospital, after many hours stressed, he finally sees her getting out safe and well, the little boy finally receives his chance to play and after making some mistakes he does a goal by himself and everyone congratulates him. At the end of the video, we see the boy confessing his love and the girl feeling the same for him.
Now, if you are a Spanish learner, this song is pretty good for practicing as the lyrics aren’t complicated, is sung slow and Luis Fonsi's voice is very clear every moment. There are no difficult verbs or complex sentences, it is not a song to make you think too much, and you wouldn’t have difficulty trying to identify what a word means as every one of them are easy to translate.
If you liked “No Me Doy por Vencido” by Luis Fonsi we recommend you to check his other great success, the most viewed song on YouTube, “Despacito ”
