Review
"Hawái" is a song by the famous Colombian singer Maulma , it was released on July 29, 2020, and is the second single from Maluma's fifth studio album, Papi Juancho.
“Hawái ” turned out to be one the most listened-to songs in Latin America and Spain, the song reached the US Billboard Hot 100, and was number 3 on the Global 200 chart. Apparently, Maluma dedicated the song and lyrics to one ex-girlfriend he had, relating more or less to the experience he had with her. Natalia Barulích, the girl who supposedly is alleged in the song posted pictures on her Instagram with Neymar when vacationing Hawaii.
The video clip and the lyrics relate us the story of a couple who appears to be fighting a lot, the relationship is becoming toxic and then, there is a cut in the flashback and we see the girl with another man in a bed, posting pictures on Instagram while looking somehow sad and reflexive, Maluma in the other side starts to sing that she isn’t happy with her new boyfriend, he treats her well, but love cannot be bought with money. During the video we see the girl and Maluma in different places, both thinking of each other, in the end, the girl is marrying the other man and Maluma appears at the wedding trying to stop her, however, he gets beaten by security and throw off the wedding. The video clips show us a flashback of the girl and Maluma fighting inside a car, explaining all the problems they had and how they broke up.
There is no hidden message in the lyrics besides a sad song about a failed love. In terms of learning and difficulty to Spanish learners, the song is quite easy, there are a few colloquial contractions that Hispanic people use constantly in their conversation, contractions like “Pa'” instead of “Para” however they are easy to identify and understand. There are no complex sentences and Maluma sings the lyrics at a normal pace so you won’t have problems trying to hear what he says.
If you liked “Hawái” and wish to know more about Maluma we recommend you to check his other song alongside Karol G “Créeme ”
